Memory Lapse Causes

You might already be aware that people who are obese, particularly those who have big bellies or apple-shaped bodies, are more prone to developing serious chronic illnesses such as diabetes, heart problems, and stroke. Many studies have already confirmed the link between big bellies and the abovementioned conditions.Our brain is one of our most important organs. It regulates everything our body does from spontaneous breathing to running a marathon. The brain also regulates everything we are, our every thought and emotion. Think of all the information it has stored in it!

Oftentimes, people push themselves to their limits, not knowing that there are physical, emotional and even mental consequences to such actions. Working 20 hours a day may help you buy a to-die-for watch or fund your collection of high-end toys, but in the long run your health will suffer. Sleep deprivation, fatigue and stress from working two to three full time jobs everyday can really take a toll on your brain functions.

As you play a guitar tab song, you reach a point where you have a memory lapse. It is almost like hitting a brick wall--you just cannot remember what comes next. When this happens you usually have to go back to the beginning of the song. As you play it from the start, you will usually play right through the part that you previously had difficulty with.

The APA states that memory loss is a common problem with growing age, but also says that an old person can keep their brains sharp throughout life even though they might take extra time to memorize certain things. This undisputedly becomes the reason why a person should see if they are undergoing a normal memory loss versus something more sinister. However, it must be remembered that benign causes of losing memory can be managed with a few simple methods.

The brain's ability to recall is a sensitive mechanism that can be greatly affected by a number of factors. Most people are familiar with the more serious lapse of memory that comes from actual disease like Alzheimer's. Physical damage to the brain interferes with the process of recall. However, the memory function is lost gradually over time not all at once. Recognizing the signs is key in getting an early diagnosis and treatment in order to preserve brain function as long as possible.

As if this is not enough, your memory problem can be aggravated by other symptoms of menopause. Stress, anxiety, sleep deprivation, fatigue, depression and other psychological problems can also cause temporary memory lapses. But now that you know what is causing your memory woes, you will find it easier to address the problem. Below are some ways on how to successfully deal with your poor memory.

Minor forgetfulness is a normal part of getting older and generally does not affect your life in any significant way. On the other hand, if lapses in memory start to get in the way of your ability to function normally, there may be some cause for concern. Getting lost in a familiar place or repeating the same sentence several times in a single conversation should raise a red flag signaling that there may be a more serious problem.

Time is memory's worst enemy. Memory loss and brain aging are a natural part of getting older. In their 50s, people will often start to report that they think their memories are going. Because they have to use more reminders or more kinds of strategies for remembering things, older adults seem to be consciously aware of their memory loss.
